Dr. Shlomo Melmed is dean of the Medical Faculty and distinguished professor of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He has received awards from the Royal Society of Medicine, Endocrine Society, European Society of Endocrinology and Pituitary Society. His National Institutes of Health-funded laboratory is devoted to studying pathogenesis and treatment of pituitary tumors and hormone signaling. An elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and Association of American Physicians, he edits the major endocrinology textbooks used worldwide. Dr. Melmed was president of the International Society of Endocrinology and is a director of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine. He has shepherded academic programs with a sustained impact on the practice of medicine by his clinical and educational initiatives and major translational discoveries. His visionary leadership has propelled Cedars-Sinai to a top-tier academic health center.
